Lantern
Starting with environmental compliance

The Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF) is one of the largest grant-making charities in the U.K. Their mission is to be a force of good by providing support, care and services to Freemasons and their families.

The MCF group is a large unquoted company and as of 2019 is required to comply with Streamline Energy and Carbon reporting (SECR). Under SECR all UK quoted and large unquoted companies and LLPs who are large are required to report on their annual energy use and greenhouse gas emissions.

Lantern has been working with MCF since the first year of SECR to ensure MCF group is compliant as well as put processes in place to be able to collate the necessary information for the annual reporting. Lantern has also helped MCF group to go beyond compliance including ensuring that their largest subsidiary RMBI Care Co. also reports voluntarily and have the correct information readily to be used for Groups reporting.

In July 2023 MCF completed their fourth SECR annual report and have seen total emissions reduction in the order of 10%. Approx. 482 tonnes of CO2e. The efficiencies are a result of implementing a regular meter readings programme for their properties and working closely with their property agents and with help from Lantern creating templates to collect regular and accurate data including staff travel. MCF is also working closely with RMBI Care Co. and Lantern to ensure that their operation and buildings are efficient, their fleet is low carbon and where possible take advantage of clean energy, in order to set clear path of reductions actions to Net Zero.
